dpandrew
My 95 outback wagon's check engine light has been flashing now for months. I checked with ODB2 and it reports no errors?? Not sure if related however within 2 miles of driving from a cold start the car suddenly will act as if not running on all cylenders (barely idol, stall, not climb hills) then usually after restart, run fine?? DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHATS WRONG? any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you
nipper
FLASHING BAD! A flashing light means that there is potential damage to the catalytic converter if the situation is not fixed. It also can mean that the cam position and crank position sensors are out of synch as would happen with a worn part in the timing belt system. Once again people rely on the CEL and codes way too much. You have a drivability issue and need to drive the car with the reader pluged into it and see what codes it is throwing in real time. How many miles on this car, what transmission, what service has been done recently, how long has this been happening .... never ignore a flashing idiot light, its bad enough people ignore them when they are on, but when they are flashing its teling you something bad is happening. When was the last time the car had an o2 sensor replaced or a tuneup? nipper

subaru DR
Here is a silly question. Did you happen to find a green connector anywhere under the dash and reconnect it? This is the dealer ck connecotr and if it is connected it will make the light flash. there will be no codes because there are no problems. Ck under your ds dash and see if there is a green 2 pin connector with one wire in it. If it is connected, disconnect it and see if the light stays out. Hondasucks
Flashing MIL = Lean Misfire, check your plugs, wires, coil pack, and fuel injectors. Since you say there are no codes, try resetting your computer. Unplug the negative battery cable and leave it off for 30 minutes, plugit back in, drive the car, see if it comes back. Or, try taking it to the dealer and have them clear the codes, maybe the reader you are using isn't working properly, also since OBD2 was not fully implemented until 1996, since yours is a 95, it might not conform to the standard 100% which might be why no codes are showing.
