Camelwagon
My sending unit sensor has 2 pic connectors and I'm trying to get a new one but every auto parts store has them with only 1 connector, whats up with that? Where can I find a 2pin? Is it a Subaru dealer part? Thanks...
Cougar
I think there are two sensors in the engine. The one with two leads is for the ECU and the single lead unit is for the dash gauge. You should be able to get either one from a dealer parts shop or order one from a shop on the web. 88HatchMonster
My 87 hatchback has a 1 wire sender and my 88 hatchback has a 2 wire one. Never tried to find a replacement for either. If you find a source for the two wire sender let us know...
Subarian
Where is the sending unit you're talking about?
MilesFox
the one with one terminal os for the gauge. the one with 2 wires and a green clip is for ea82 spfi ecu sensor.
Subarian
The carbed model doesn't have an ECU. If it's the one with two tabs that's mounted in the radiator, it's the fan thermostat.
Camelwagon
The 2 pin sensor is right near the thermostat housing. So where is the one pin sensor? Well I disconnected my 2 pin to test if the gauge moved and the gauge didnt move at all after that when I drove, so that means that the one with the 2 pin is for the gauge on the dash. My car is an 85 so maybe its different and it is a California car with different stuff.
Cougar
Very interesting. I would check with a dealer parts department.
MilesFox
working on an 86 ea82 putting it into an 83 wagon, the one sensor has 2 terminals, but they are the flat spade terminals, so yes, this is your dash gauge to be correct, one terminal is sideways from the other. this part is the same for ea81 and ea82 carb models, as the ea82 motor in the 83, the 83 plug fits on it the same and the gauge works my remarks about ea82 spfi would have wires coming out of the sensor, and a green clip the carb models only have one temp sensor and its for the gauge
Camelwagon
Ya, I only have the 2 terminal sensor, one terminal sideways from the other terminal. So Miles, you're saying that if I buy a one terminal sensor, it would still connect right and the gauge would still work???
