alright i don't know how to search archives and i feel silly asking these questions that have probably been beat to death...

have a 95 legacy with a shot AT. the tranny in the car is a TZ102ZAAAA, and i have a line on a TZ102ZAbAA.

are they interchangeable? (slight modifications are considered ok too)

--i'm a bmw guy, these are a whole new experience.

They should be.

The info I have says the digit that changes indicates the year it came out of. For the first gen legacies 1 was the first year, indicated 1990.

In 95 when the 2nd gen came out, A probably indicated the first year 1995, B would probably indicate 1996....etc.

So assuming Subaru kept the same decoding scheme, and they didn't change anything between the 95 & 96 MY's, the tranny's should be interchangable.
