markjs
Sorry had to catch your eye that way but trouble is sometimes when I come to a stop after high speed travel in my ea81 ('84) the car will die and be really a *************** to start again. At no other time is it ever hard to start and it rarely dies like that but when it does its really annoying. Told ya you couldnt answer it. Qman
Can't answer a question that doesn't have enough info. Give us specifics like model, year, engine and fuel system. Then sit back and watch the masters polish the crystal balls.
baccaruda
the best way to start is to give the car a full tune up. After that, blame the carburetor
wesley willis
my carb hesitates to give my motor fuel when i go around corners. i learned to love its quirks.
baccaruda
i hate carburetors. anything that can be described as a "gizmo" has no place on a car IMO.
northguy
It could be crud in the carb. There is a spring that activates the idle and if the port to the idle mixture is crudded up, the spring can not release the piston to activate the fuel flow for idling. You might try cleaning the carb.
subie94
it couldn't have anything to do with fuel filter? when was the last time you changed your filter.i had a problem one time with a fuel filter way back in my 86.when i would give it gas(it would run fine)but when i would let it idle(it would sputter, then die)
NVBigBlue
my carb hesitates to give my motor fuel when i go around corners. i learned to love its quirks. Wesley, Just a guess, but I'll bet it's dying when you make right turns, yes? Check the float level. No baffles in the bowl, right turn forces gas to left side of bowl, intakes for the jets on right side of bowl.....jets starve for fuel. I played with the float level for about a week before I got it to stop. Sorry about the hijack. As for Markjs's problem.... Is it starving for fuel or flooding? More info please.... BoostedBalls
Hard to start up after long drive??? I would be checking that the choke is actually open.
kingbobdole
I say either junk or float issues... Next time it happens first try pumping the gas a few times, then starting... or holding the throttle open then sratring... see which way it works... if niether does, get out and see if the evil carb is making any noise.... then convert to SPFI:grin:
