thomasfxt
While driving in the snow, my mild sounding outback exhaust started to sound like a Monza Tip. Some how slush or water got into the right exhaust and was causing a gurgling and water hermonic. Any suggestions as to how this happened? Is it common or do I have a problem. I was NOT in deep snow, bu the roads were slushy and wet. Could the right rear tire be forcing slush into the exhaust? Please help
Suzam
I don't know if that's possible, however you can find out tonight after the 5-8" of snow predicted hits. Was your engine running long enough to get the exhaust hot enough to vaporize the H2O? Subies do create a lot of condensation in colder weather, so short trips without a full exhaust warm-up could produce moisture in there. Also check the small drainage holes in the mufflers to make sure they are cleared of dirt or undercoating.
Setright
What? Where would those drain holes be?
thomasfxt
thanks for the advice. The car was running long enough and it was the first time that I have ever heard the sound or symptoms. Including very cold rain driving. I will check the drain holes, in the light, without the snow. Thanks
