vodoobrat
I fixed up a 85 GL 4x4 Turbo Wagon. The tranny was gone and I replaced it with an 85 GL 4x4 Non turbo Wagon. Everything works so far. Here are my question????? 1. Heater only blows out the Middle part of Dash and nowhere else. No matter if I put it on Defrost or just Heat. 2. When accelerating, I notice a slight hesitation. It's more like smooth rocking then studder. When I got the car the power steering pump has spilled all over the belt, could this possible by the problem. I may want to sell this car and want to make sure everything is working before I get rid of it. Any help would be great Vo
TomRhere
Heater problem- You may have inadvertantly knocked the vacuum line off for the heater controls. The flapper doors are vacuum operated. Hesistation/stutter- See above. Could be a vacuum leak. Could be something else, too. Don't really know much about turbo systems. I have a link to some turbo info. Have to see if I can locate it. Will edit it in if I do.......... Here you be... http://www.dune-buggy.com/turbo/index.htm Good reading, in my opinion...........
Skip
Tom is right on, check that you connected a vacuum line to the white cannister on the shelf behind the pass sturt tower and that the check valve (needed with turbos especially) is working. The "surge" can be many things, could be as simple as a need for higher octane gas - knock sensor could be retarding/andvancing the ig timing trying to stop the pre ignition. May want to fit a boost gage to watch and see if the intake manifold pressure is oscillating in time with the surge - weak waste gate spring.
