Reno/Carson City Yard run, Saturday 12/17

Recommended Posts

I gotta find me a low mileage block somehow. Ive already looked here in Sacramento and I think my odds of finding what I need are better in Nevada.

So this Saturday I'm planning a trip up there. Figure I'll hit the PnP in Sparks NV and if I cant find a good enough motor there then head to Carson City and scope out the yards there.

Dave... whens the last time youve been to carson? Any idea how many EA82's are there? Im looking for a Loyale in the '90-'91 era thats been T-boned or rear ended. Something that looks like it ended up in the yard for something other than engine related problems.

Who's in? Will need some extra hands to pull the motor out of the car.

Brian,

Haven't been to the PnP in several weeks, but there always seems to be plenty of EA82s there. (what's up with the bold font? I didn't change anything) Just because the car wasn't damaged doesn't mean the engine's not good. There are lots of cars that are brought in from California..Truckee, Tahoe (CA side) area in particular. Many of those merely failed the smog test required for California or urban Reno emissions, and were junked because of that. I'm sure that's also why you see so many seemingly undamaged older cars in Sacto yards.

Might want to keep that in mind.

Parents' 60th anniversary in Yuba City Saturday..no PnP for me.

Good luck at the yards. Dress warm, the days have been in the 30s~low 40s this week:) .

Brian,

I'm in! Missed you @ the moon rocks run.....I'm about 20 minutes from the Carson PNP. Reno is definately within target distance (I work @ TMCC M-F). I don't think I'm busy this weekend so drop me line! Jibs has my number but I'll PM my cell too. If you want me to scope Carson, no prob ...but I can't get there until AM on Sat. If you need help in Reno, let me know when you get to Boomtown and I can jam up that way......... Dress warm, I friggin' hate anything below 60 degrees!:banghead:

Hey Brian,

My son has a wrestling meet at Galeena on Sat, but I think I can make it to the sparks yard no prob (mom can cover the meet). You still planning on comming up? Let me know.... If it's going to be as cold on sat as it has been all week, I might even bring uh-hem....coffee...to the yard. wink wink...

Bill we'll see. Things are starting to look different now that I stocked my fridge with food. I may be forced to pull a block locally to save on fuel costs, i'd much rather get one from reno tho.

Anyone know how many EA82's are in the Sparks Yard? I'd hate to drive all the way up there to find a worse selection than Sacramento's PnP.

stoped by the local PNP up the road from my house today. noted a 87 carb wagon with body damage, engine turns over, no cluster no miles.

also had a XT turbo. A 91 loyal SPFI. and A XT6 (man I want that suspension with 5 lug hubs).

I did not have time to check any other yards.

I know you are looking east but just thuoght I would share what I saw today.

Hey guys,

Brian I got your voice mail message, sorry I couldn't meet up with you and the rest. I've been sick since last Thursday, and didn't even get out of bed all weekend.....(I didn't even get to go play in the fresh snow we got... :banghead: ) Hope you got what you needed. Hopefully next time.
