Timing belt ?

Recommended Posts

THe was a timing belt kit on eBay recently.Shows up once in a while. For around $65 plus shipping you get the belts and the tensioner pulleys, and I believe the idler cam too.Get yourself the cam seals and O-rings for the cam seal holder.Do it all and sleep comfy for 60k +

Another thing. You being up the the rust zone had better soak the timing cover bolts well before doing this.Use PB Blaster and be sure to get the nut/bolt combo on the lower driver's side real well.Get them from the back side as best as you can.Sorry if you already know this.

Good luck.

i would re- use them myself. but then again thats me. and then agian i have more sets of used timing belts floating around than i have had subarus. besides, if you build your motor without the plastic covers you can change them off the side of the road in 10 minutes with 2 tools.

if you get new ones keep the old ones as spares inthe trunk, along with 2 tools(12mm deep socket and 7/8")

i'm with miles. non-interference motors so no worry. if you've done timing belts enough, have the needed tools and a spare set in the trunk and do it in a couple minutes if they break. EA82's are easy to work on so i'd reuse as well if they looked decent.
