Gravityman
Hey subaru freaks Has anyone ever tried to rotate the intake manifold on the XT6 (ER27)? I know that it is possible it will mount! You could do this and basicly hook up a K&N and MAF and BAM you have a short ram FM intake. Anyone think about trying this? I might just for picture sake. kingbobdole
ummm... sounds kinda... cool ... I guess... but the way the intake is it might hit the hood....... plus whats the goal? cool ness? more strangeness? I have a short ram intake and a turbo hood so I almost have a ram air system... but its more like a cool air system....
Gravityman
I dont know if it would really work with the stock hood, probably not. I just thought It will be cool mabe help increase HP by mabe .23HP and about 100ft/TQ. Take the cold air from before the engine instead of after. idosubaru
routing the throttle cables and engine wiring harness would be annoying as that's all attached to the intake assembly. that would also swap around the injectors...so the wiring might need to be changed IF the injectors are dedicated to a particular cylinder. good luck, sounds like fun! Gravityman
I am pretty sure that the fuel injectors would not be touched. The only thing need to be rewired or rerouted is the By-pass air control valve and the throttle cable. As you probably know there are 3 parts to the intake manifold; the Intake manifold collector (top piece) and the 2 parts of the intake that house the fuel injectors. What I was thinking was to only rotate the collector (top piece), the injectors would not be touched and the mounting hole are in the exact possition when the collector is rotated 180 deg. I am just worried about the hood and the alt being in the way. I dont know call me CRAZY.
subarubrat
BTW, a Previa toyota minivan K&N adapter will fit. You can use the stock air inlet by cutting it and using a 90 Deg hose section to flip it. I use that on my BRAT.
