Knichol
For the EA82 wagons, where do people get those rear spoilers for diverting the air so it blows across your rear window? What are those called, a rear dust fin?
Numbchux
It's a stock option. I think it came on all GL-10 wagons...maybe just turbos. I got mine from someone here in the marketplace. I bet you could find someone either parting out a car, or just posted a wanted thread.
eggroller
Does it work well for water spray, too?
Subarian
I have one and haven't really noticed any real effect from it. It might keep dust down, but not so that I"ve noticed.
Sweet82
I put one on the Hatch just cause it looked cool! I don't think the car is capable of moving fast enough to actually deflect enough air to clean the dust off the rear window though? I didn't put my deflector back on when I built Summer..... Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer--not currently using rear deflector? 84 GL Mad Max--has defector but incapable of generating the speed necessary. 01 Forester--has fin to hide big dent from when the sky fell. jacobs
If you travel dirt roads frequently, you'll notice a BIG difference.
baccaruda
i've always called it an airfoil, but that's because it's not a spoiler, it sounds cool, and i don't know what else to call it. might be inaccurate. They stabilize the aerodynamics in the rear of the car, moreso at higher speeds. I've seen it said that it recovers a few horsepower that would be lost resisting a more turbulent airflow, but I think it's more likely that it recovers a few miles per gallon (or more likely, miles per tank) That stabilization effect probably doesn't blow dust off of the window as much as keep it from settling in the first place, but I don't drive in dusty areas much either. Whatever they are supposed to do, they do look pretty cool

LiftedHatchSubie
I've got one from my '83 GL parts wagon I thought I'd put it on my '86 hatch but the brackets don't match for my hatch....but I've seen them on hatches like mine around here. might consider parting with mine....unless I figure a way to get it to work on mine first. Subarian
They were definitely available on the GLs. My carbed 86 came with one. I don't know if they would fit your hatch, but if they do, they're not too uncommon in junkyards.
