Lowering springs

Recommended Posts

Alright im sure this has been asked a guzillian times but is there any body who makes a kit for the ea82t (rx, yea its a long shot), OR is there any other makes or models that have kits that will fit. Im not lowering the whole car just the front. i think it will look a lot better.

Here's a graphic with the different EA82 strut and spring info. I got it off of the Back yard boys message board, so I'm not 100% sure if everything matches USDM specs. Also it dose not include Non-Turbo 4wd XT

Find a 2wd XT turbo. Directly bolt on the front struts/springs. 2~2.5 inches lower. I've done this.

For the rear, use the XT springs on the RX shocks. Thats about 1.5 inches.

edit: Geez, look at how the RX's have the beefed up suspension! No wonder my spripped RX handles just so right going really fast down any road!

By looking at the chart, I see the rate on the XT rear springs is a bit softer than the RX.

Notice any difference in the handling of the Rx with the XT springs in the back?

I ask because a softer spring in the back will supposably cause a bit of understeer.

Would love to get the rear of my RX down a bit with this swap, just trying to cure the tire eating understeer.

I've got a set of GR2s waiting for install in the rear. Maybe they will compensate.

My front tires thank you for your response.

WIth the XT package on the front, and the XT springs/RX shocks on the rear....it was all good. OVERSTEER!!!!!!!!!!!! I also had stock swaybars front and rear. I have an 18MM on the rear now, but its raised back up for gravel useage.

Lowering the front got the camber to zero on the front...then it traveled to the negative 0.5 range. Excellent handing....but the springs were too soft. I'd love to get some extra RX springs and cut them properly. That would be massive.

STB's woudl be great to use on the subes. But no one makes them. subspeed has some...but they are custom made by that guy.

5 lug is hard to come by, we use the XT6's for the donor parts, as the XT6 is a hybrid car, of hitech EA82T stuff and legacy parts. I dont think anyone has relly tried to use any striaght up Legacy or impreza parts tho... Pugs are hard to find, if there were an easy way to use 5 lug, then everyone would be doing it...but pugs seem to be easy'er...just bolt on after you find a set. Some ppl have used 6 lug wheels redrilled.

I DID find some one in OZ that had redrilled hub on his RX to use some kind of common 4 or 5 lug wheels. But i dont remember anything else about him or the car....
