A couple of questions from a newcomer

I am so glad I found this terrific community !

 

I own a Subaru Legacy L 2.2 1995 Manual Transmission AWD with 111000 miles on it. I am so happy with this beauty but recently she started to upset me :-\.

 

I have three questions:

 

1- My rear defroster quit working. I did the usual trouble checking with a Voltmeter and none of the elements seem broken. The fuse is OK. So I suspect there is a problem with the main connections on the window BUT I cannot reach them ! I don't know the procedure and I don't want to break anything just by trying blindly. The funny thing is when I told the same thing to the dealer (Wakefield Subaru MA), they told me I needed to go to an "auto glass specialist" . Note that it is an official authorized Subaru dealer to tell me this ! What ever, any help is appreciated at this point.

 

2- My second problem seems a chronic one and has been going on for a year now. At low RPM and especially 1st gear, the car seems like hesitating. Let me put it this way: When the car is at a complete stop and 1st gear and you slowly release the clutch and it gets going slowly due to idle engine torque, it starts to hesitate but never stops. No problems at normal cruising speeds. Any help ?

 

3- And the last one is the usual newbie question: Can you recommend me a good mechanic around Boston , Melrose area ?

You should have 12 volts between the wires that connect to the grid. If not, maybe the relay is bad. Not sure of it's location.
