idosubaru
Can you get an adapter plate to mount the e82 box to the center diff of the EJ trans i'll let someone more versed pipe up, but i don't think that's an "adapter plate" kind of application. Numbchux
I have not done it myself, but was thinking about it (until I got my hands on a genuine EJ D/R), so I was watching for any information I could find. AFAIK, the center diff housing bolt pattern is the same. although the casing itself is different. but that should mean you can bolt an EJ center diff casing (with an EJ center diff in it....) to an EA trans or vice versa. Sounds like it would be worth a try ill have to look into it more. Where did you find an EJ D\R if i could find one of them i would just buy it instead of going through all the trouble of mateing the e82 box on my ej diff case. Numbchux
Did you find it on a web page or what any info would be appreciated. Thanks Jordan I'm not exactly sure what all was involved in importing it, as I didn't. another member here coordinated it all for a project of his, by the time the trans actually arrived, the project had been scrapped, so he re-sold it. too bad it'll have to wait another year or so before it actually gets installed in anything. but the wait should be worth it. if you're looking to do the same, you may want to ask the members who are from australia what the best way to get it done would be. maybe even join and ask over on Ausubaru.com

Bantum
I'm doing some research on the R160 diff project & came a cross this thread, would be be interested to know if a locker could be made to fit both front & rear carriers ... Follow the project here : https://www.facebook.com/R160.Diff.Locker.Project/ Cheers, Bantum ...
wagonist
most EJ D/R have the EA82 RX low range, not the NA version. A couple of the early Foresters (and some limited edition Imprezas of the same age) had a shorter low range (I don't think its the same ratio as the NA EA82). But these are extremely rare & hard to find even here.
