 Well,first thing,WELCOME.

We were just talking about '71's and ff1's There's a minor demand for ANY but virtually none seem to exist here in the States. There's probably only a handfull left.

Is yours a wagon?

Unfortunately the only person with any recently here on this board was a guy with 3 of them rotting away in Alabama. That was at least two years ago.As we know it they went to scrap or back to earth.

You have a grand challenge ahead of you.Good luck and please keep us posted on progress and needs.

There is one 1971 ff1 wagon here in CT that a friend of mine owns. He's not a board member, unfortunately. His is in running condition but not driven.

There was a small lot of parts and tools available from Ed Parsil who owns the 360 Club.He posted them here.I told my friend but he still hasn't acted on them.So if you get in touch with Ed sooner they will likely be yours.Probably one of the last stashes of parts like this you find.

Here,you're going to like this:

Click on his name and you'll be able to contact him.

I need to see what he has for my '73 too.

Walter,

Give me a buzz at my email carrara_m61@hotmail.com to see what you are after, also my father worked for the importer here in brisbane Australia and the last time i looked he had room full of new spares for the FF1, so if you or anyone is interested let me know and i will try to track the business down and see the parts still exist

OOH OOH OOH I GOTTA HAVE IT!!! (or at least SEE it!) I already have one of the cars my folks had when I was a kid (a '71 Chevrolet Kingswood fullsize wagon that the ff1 would fit in the back of), but the Subie is almost impossible to find, and they're not getting wrecked in demolition derbies the way the big wagons are! Seriously, I would LOVE to see that car if that is possible...

Follow the board, check for a meet in CT and maybe we'll get you a look at my friend's cars.Sorry,I've had a few weird experiences with some new folks lately I'd rather see you, meet you, etc. before passing along info and sending you somewhere. The guy with the ff-1 is a treasure himself.Get to know us and you'll probably get to know him too. He's not a board member.

Will do. We might have a chance to meet beforehand, since you may figure out by my 1400 post that I'll probably be at your nearby Subaru place the next time you are.

Maybe.

Do you ever get over to Holmgren's?

I got some greal old stock out of there but I think most of the really good stuff is gone.He didn't have much left for 70's once I got out of there.

I'm pretty much tied into Dan Perkins,ONLY because they have two of the best parts guys going, anywhere.I get a good discount like the shops too.Otherwise Dan Perk's is a lousy shop in my opinion. It's just the core of the organization.Great location, lots of stock, but not so great sales/admin. folks.

Do you know Jesse from the small (sort of Subaru specialist)shop in Canterbury?

I live at Holmgren 40 hours a week at least, so I'm easy to find there. If Jesse runs Clayville Auto in Griswold, I know the place. There's also Coureville's and R&R Repair (I've seen a bunch of Subarus over there) in Canterbury. I worked with Roger Lerose's nephew a couple years ago at a Ford dealer (he co-owns R&R Repair).

I can't remember what the name of the place is where Jesse works. There's a campground around back, just down the hill.

Is the old man retired yet or what?? Last I knew his wife was having some problems. You guys were just in the process of getting the addition workable.

What's left up in the loft??

I got the plow he had,but he never was able to find the brouchure and install info he was sure he had for me.I'll manage when the time comes, but it'd have been nice if he had that brouchre, etc.

And,the big question.....will they ever give up the 360 pickup????

By the way,I'm pretty sure you already know the guy with the ff-1.He's also around Holmgrens,or at least used to be,for parts, etc.

Got anything vintage of your own?

I wonder if we met when I was up there.First time I came up in my '78 4WD wagon....then in a rented truck, ready to take home the tons of stuff the parts guy was told to unload....then he disappeared and the old man got involved....then I got to come back and go through the loft.THAT was fun!I walked out the first time with a heap of goodies, then the second trip I scored well but he told me he wanted to deal the whole lot,no more little trips...then after keeping in touch, but a lapse of communication for a couple of months he tells me there's someone taking stuff in little bits and sellnig them on eBay.Well, that's exactly what he didn't want me to do back when,so I didn't pursue further.I went nuts up in that loft for at least one full day of time setting stuff aside, writing part numbers,etc....but I guess I just have to be glad I got the stash that I did.

There's some nice 80's wheels up there too that I'd love to get.

I'm going to send an email or PM right now.Check it please, before you reply. Thanks

If it's the place full of junk cars in the back, it's R&R. If that's where he works, I sure would like to know what happened to my '71 Kingswood parts car! I went there one day to get something from it, and it was gone!

I'm a newbie on the scene at H's, so I can tell you how things are right now, but not how they got that way. The OM is still running the show. His wife is no longer with us :( The addition has been in service for quite some time, and the 360 pickup is mothballed in a classified location. I'm sure it will show up again when they need a conversation piece, but I'm sure it's a family heirloom that will never be sold.

I haven't run into anyone there with an old Sube yet (besides Tom), so I hope your friend shows up sometime in the near future. My old car collection doesn't include a Sube - I have a '71 Chevrolet Kingswood Estate fullsize wagon that's mothballed until I have the time, money, and space to restore it (it needs the body-off-frame full meal deal) and I HAD a parts car whose owner hunted me down when he found out about the one I already had. I haven't seen an ff1 in 20 years or so. They don't show up on Ebay either! My interest in these two cars is because my folks had them when I was a kid The big wagons are being smashed into oblivion by demolition derbiers, so I grabbed one when I got the chance. It's in rough enough shape to be considered derby fodder, but it's what I have to work with. I can't allow myself to sell it off to a derbier at this point. At least the ff1s (if I ever find one for sale) aren't getting destroyed as quick as they can be found.

Yeah, let's bring this post back around to the ff-1....thanks for contacting me.We'll talk more, soon.

I'm begining to think that an ff-1 is the most rare of all older Subarus now. Those Subarus from just after the 360 through the Stage II '77 and beyond are the toughest to find. And the pre-1300 stuff has to be near impossible to find now in this country.

The girls name is Anita and she lives in a town called Winton in Southland New Zealand. Her Phone numder is NZ 03 236 1951. Don't let on where you got her number as she would never talk to me again and I wouldn't be able to get parts myself. She has two FF1s a four door and a two door in racing strip. Photo in galley of the racing FF1. Her father owned a dealership and got all the old parts from around the country as they were going to be dumped I think.
