cidion
We need to replace our rear struts on our (recently purchased) 2000 OBW with 131K on it. the front struts were recently replaced, but It was before our purchase, and I'm not sure of the kind, or specs. I can get stock struts, but I'd think this would be a nice time for an upgrade...depending on the cost. Every now and then will be using this for hauling camera equipment, but that will weigh only 200-300 lbs at the most. And maybe once a month? So most of the time the rear will be empty. We don't live near the snow (i wish we did) and 99% of the time it's on pavement / concrete. Any adivce? I've searched the forum some, but it's hard to know what shocks work with which year Subs. thanks again!
Legacy777
Have you looked at the struts to see if there's any markings on them? I'd really recommend you put the same brand/type on all four corners. If you put a strut with a higher/softer damping rate on either the front or rear, you can severely offset the handling characteristics of the car. My car was like this. I had stiffer struts in the rear and softer in the front. The car was very tail happy and the rear end would step out on cornering. I'd recommend KYB GR2 struts. cidion
I'd recommend KYB GR2 struts. Ok, I was able to get the part number from the new front struts. KYB 334275 (i think that was all of the number) I'm not sure if those are GR2 or not. I called a couple KYB dealers, but they were not very...uh...yeah...well... that's why i'm asking here on the forum. =) Any reccomendations for a dealer? Thanks again
TheYeti
I would take a look at Tirerack.com for your strut purchase. Good prices

Strakes
That part number is the KYB GR2 part. The part numbers for your car are the following: All are KYB GR2s: Front Right 334275 Front Left 334276 Rear Right & Left are the same: 341276 How do I know? I'm looking at a set of GR-2s for my 2002 GT Legacy (different part numbers) and have been trying to get quotes from various places. Many places like to quote me the OBW numbers maybe because they don't know much about the differences in Subarus. Also, so far in my case, the tirerack has been the cheapest place for struts..even beating a couple Ebay retailers.

Legacy777
BTW.....just so everyone knows. KYB has a fitment catalogue you can d/l from their website that has all the fitment listings and part #'s. It's pretty cool. It also updates via the web to check for new models and products.
