jrcrum
Hey im having a timing issue, (86 dl 1800 carb) if this seems weird it might be it seems the drivers side bank is off time is that usual maybe the belt slipping???? only had the car about 3 weeks, went to do a tune up plugs wires rotor cap, now car has noticabally less power and it seems like that bank is out of sync, is it possible while pulling out the rotor that it got demeshed and out of sync there? or would it probably be a belt? also how big of a job is this I really don't know of any subaru mechanics near me the last guy i took it to thought it was a carb issue??? NorthWet
I would be more inclined to believe that there are issues with the plugs and wires on that bank. Perhaps 2 wires are on the wrong plugs. The rotor goes on only one way... but... ... Parts stores often give the wrong parts for 85-88 Subarus, as there were two different-but-similar engine series being produced during those years. Make sure that you got the right parts for your engine, which... ... I assume is an EA82 SOHC engine; distributor on the back of engine-left side cam case. If the driver's side (USA, Left Hand Drive) is the one that seems "out of time", then a "loose" belt on that side would effect both banks since the distributor is driven off of that belt. Subarian
I'm with NorthWet. Check the firing order- I'll bet you have a couple of wires crossed.
