wrongturninwv
Time to replace rear struts on my 95 Impreza 2 dr coupe. I have the new springs I ordered from Subaru so now I have to buy some struts. Need you guys to let me know which one gives the better ride, the KYB non ajustable or the Monroe Sensa-Track. Maby one of you even have a new pair for sale. Let me know what you think. Thanks wrongturninswv@wmconnect.com
benebob
Why on earth did you need new springs? The monroes would give a slightly less stiff ride, lets stay more like a buick which imo isn't a more comforatble ride esp on bumpy backroads. wrongturninwv
I thought with the car being over 10 years old and with 15000 miles on it it would need new springs by now. When I had struts replaced on the wifes Outback I was told by the shop that did the work that you should replace springs when you have new struts put on. Is that just a sales pitch or do I just replace struts ? Car is bottoming out on bumps now with no load in back. How many years can you get out of the springs before replacing ??? thanks

Are you running the original struts and are they leaking? If so that's your biggest issue. My advice would be to put the money you were gonna on springs towards getting new mounts. You'll notice that more than a couple pounds lost on the springs... Unless you're carrying a 1000lbs around in the trunk on a regular basis. Just curious how much the struts are? I'm guessing you can get Subaru OEMs for about $100 a piece from www.newsubaru.com (their prices online are just list but liberty will sell wholesale to phone customers.) Subie Gal
IMHO if you are going to spend the money on struts... better buy the springs too makes absolutely no sense to me to go about it 1/2 way. want to refresh your ride, do it right. springs do wear out. struts wear out. strut mounts wear out if you're going for a like new ride, replace all 3 if you're just trying to squeak by, get just the struts IMHO, $.02 + change.... etc... etc...
