Compression, EA81

My bro bought two wrecks. A 82 wagon and a 83 wagon. At the moment we're fixing the 83's body and we're gonna put the 82's engine in it. I think the 82's engine has been rebuilt as the disty cap/contacts/rotor is all very new. then plugs are new. Though the clutch was stuffed, not a problem as the clutch off the 83 is almost new and is also a 225mm one. So we also swaped the flywheel.

 

Heres the interesting thing. It comes out with 170psi on all four pistons. We're only 80m above sea level so this means the engine is running bit more then 11.7:1 compression. How do you think this was achived? Re-bored and new pistons? Ijust thought it was kinda interesting.

 

BTW. atmospheric pressure is 14.7 psi at sea level. So 170 divided by 14.7 (make it 14.5 cos I'm not quite at sea level) makes close on 11.7 to 1 ratio. Correct me if you think that is wrong. But please explain your method.

Actual compression ratio is calculated by dividing the cylinder volume at BDC by the cylinder volume at TDC. I dunno how practical that is other than engineering theory. {shrug} r/ PK.
