valleyodsunstroke
....but I have been battling two recurring problems for monthes now. I own a '91 AWD Legacy wagon. My first problem is with the clutch assembly. Approximatley 6000 miles, as I vaguely recall, I had a new pressure plate, throw-out bearing and clutch cable installed. When I attempt to disengage the clutch, the pedal is very difficult depress and I have to jam into the floor to shift. I also have 2-3 inches of free "play" in the pedal before it begins to disengaged. The mechanic advised me adjust the clutch by turning a nut associated with the clutch cable, but I need to adjust it every other day and it does not seem to help at all. As suggestions? North Ursalia
For the cost of it, I'd just replace the whole clutch cable and the lock and adjust nuts. The cables stretch over time.
DerFahrer
Yeah, your cable is getting old. I had mine replaced in my Legacy soon after I got it, and it was a night-and-day difference. My Legacy's cable clutch is lighter than any hydraulic clutch I've ever driven... I need to replace the XT's cable as it is rather heavy like yours...
