bushbasher
they're all spfi or carb. mpfi is found on turbo cars only.

calebz
hmm.. This may apply to XTs only, but there are N/A MPFI motors
archemitis
yes i agree. na ea82 mpfi xts are pleantyfull if its mpfi it says multi point fuel injection and has two aluminum runner s on each side, instead of just one tube. if its spfi it has a tube, and yours could even be a leftover carb, which has a wierd almost oval shaped aircleaner on top. bushbasher
my mistake, though I only had the wagons in mind.
TROGDOR!
FYI, in '85 they actually made a few GL-10 sedans and wagons with MPFI.
XSNRG
I have one, it's a '85 GL-10 2WD wagon with MPFI and no turbo. It's the only one I've seen other than XT's.
bushbasher
so it's just the ea81s that only have mpfi with the turbo?
archemitis
the 85s they are talking about are ea82s. there were never na ea81s with mpfi. mpfi na only gomes on ea82s
TheSubaruJunkie
The intake plentum should say SPFI or MPFI in large letters ontop. Either that, or look at your engine block. If you have metal tubes leading to Injectors, 2 on each head... then you have MPFI. If there are no injectors in the heads its a SPFI or Carb. -Brian
XSNRG
All turbos are MPFI.
MaroonDuneDoom
my intake plenum on my 88 gl wagon just says "Subaru F.I." it's single port but like i said, it doesn't say spfi or mpfi on the plenum. is everyone else's the same, or is my car just that unique? calebz
All the SPfIs that I have seen simply say "Subaru FI".. or EFI.. can't remember.. never seen one that actually says "SPFI" on it
