gemery10
Hi to all, does anyone know what to put on power window seals to stop them screeching, its getting worse. Also, can anyone recommend a good mechanic at the goldcoast as my car has been through many probs related to pcv valve and it wasn't ever picked up, when I suggested it they laughed at the idea. chazmataz
Are you sure its the seals or could it be the tracking or the motor?? the seals you would probably have to replace them if they making noice they are probably dried out and hard but the tracking you could spray some kinda lube on but you would need to take the door panel off to get to them. not sure about the PVC other then replacing it. hope this helps
somick
On my Isuzu manual windows I used graphite powder. It worked fine for few months. Than I had to redo it again. My power windows on Subaru work intermitently. So do not know if the powder will work here. I have never tried it. Sam
soobscript
My weren't very loud, but they weren't very smooth. I took the door panels off and sprayed the roller-guides (right near the top) with lithium grease. It helped some but not much. Plus I have lines on my windows from where the lithium has rubbed of and collected dirt, and it's tough to remove. I think I need to remove the vapor barrier and get the tracks lubed up really well. I have no problem with the seals on my 88.
gemery10
Good points, My seals are probably fine I'll check out the tracks today. Personally I'm amazed with 330,000 k's on it that all the buttons still work! As for the pcv valve I have replaced it myself was just alluding to the fact that no mechanic would believe me about what you guys said was causing the problem so I ended up doing it myself. BobBrumby
Sorry to get off topic, but what exactly was your 'bad' pcv valve doing to your car?
