12" wheels?

You have to make / redrill them.

There is a 12" rim in 4x130, its on the back of a japanese mazda bongo/ford econovan light commercial van that was fitted with dual rear tyres. Approx 1984-1990. The rims are 12"x4" wide and quite offset of course, being dual wheel. If you widen them by 4" you get a 12"x8" rim thats very sturdy and stops just shy of the caliper on subie.

This is them widened:

A 12" rim will fit and clear all the brakes and steering components.

The question is what are you going to do with a 12" rim?

If you mount a middle of the road tire "26 inch", you'll need a lift to clear them--depending on the width?

A smaller tire would fit a bit easier.

Your stock tire should measure about 22.5"

A 26" tire measures out to about 25.5

Tell us what you have in mind?

OY MY!! now this has got me thinking...I take my gl wagon to Baja for a few weeks each winter to chase surf and have to go to the well known spots with reasonable access and sometimes crowds BUT with a extra set of wheels/tires I turn the wagon into a "sand no trouble atv" and go to another spot with a friend or 2 that doesn't have the great access!!! yeah baby!! Cheers Pesky

23x10.50-12 Ag Lug

they really go I wouldnt hesitate putting a fell set on a subaru, we took this machine to the sand dunes , goes great , is lacking on steep hills as its only front wheel drive

the lawn tractor rim is lacking as it has no bead lock ridge so you cant air down much ,

well, my thoughts were about getting some atv tyres for trail use only.

they are easily found in up to 28" fairly cheap and have some wicked tread patterns.

yep, it's been discussed before....

long story short, they're not strong enough to hold up the weight of a subaru

yes, even with lots of air, the most you'd do is blow out a sidewall, or a bead, or blow the valvestem out. Too much pressure plus a tire thats not supposed to take that much plus the addition of the weight which is going to be over the load capacity of the tire equals lots of BOOOOOM!!!!

And they make atv wheels with a 4x135 (or something like that, it's close) lug pattern, but they're not even as strong as the wheels on your donut spares.

Sweet82 runs avt tires on custom wheels, but his buggy weighs a fraction of a full subie. It looks like he put those wheels on his wagon, but probalby just for test fittin, and pics.

Well what could you do to a soob to make it lighter? You'd have to tube everything out, which wouldn't be too bad. Get rid of all that excess weight, use some atv wheels and tires and tell us how it goes, get some pics too.
