ianhilley
is it too late for my car? a 78 wagon with a bum transmission. What are my not so obvious options, not involving crushing rusted metal? (it drives in 4wd)

85Sub4WD
are you asking about rust repair, or about the tranny?? how extensive is the rust? theoretically at least, there is no limit to the amount of rust that is "repairable" it just gets harder, and harder to do. If you know how to weld, that makes a BIG difference. If the rocker panels are fine, it should be relatively easy to fix, otherwise it could get nasty.... good luck
Kostamojen
I repaired most of the rust on my '78 Wagon. I had to replace a fender and two doors though, and cut sections of rusty holes out of the roof. Took alot of work, but it is under control now. coylethebarbarian
Rust issues with rockers....yeah, my brat has rusted rockers, and do I dislike the idea of trying to fix them....this post caught my eye when I did a search...planning on asking "what's involved with repair on rockers?" or "any tips for repairing rusted rockers?" The rest of the rust, think I can handle...some welding here & there.... Any comments appreciated...
