atranger
Can I replace the air suspension in my son's 1990 Legacy wagon with regular struts? If so..anything special I need to? Rick
electryc_monk
yes, you can. there have been several who have done this. you could even (on this board or ebay) sell the working air sturts and related parts too. IF your so inclinded. it's best(IMHO) to do this with the car on 4 jackstands or at least 2 stands and do front or rear at a time then swap to the other half. it's actually a rather straightforward proceedure for the swap from what I have heard for those with Legacy's. The older model's I know from experience is quite easy.
atranger
I bought new struts - gas filled - and assume I need springs. I don't see springs when I look at the existing air suspension. Are they inside the cylinder I see, or do I need to buy springs and additional mounting hardware? Rick
DerFahrer
There are no springs in an air suspension system. The air is the spring. Ask around for someone who has a set of springs laying around, I'm sure you can find a set here or at a boneyard... Also, try to take the air compressor and tank out intact, those will fetch some more $$$...
