95 super subbie Posted January 30, 2006 Share Posted January 30, 2006 i need to replace the oil pan on my 95 awd legacy i got the oil pan for 5$ off a bad motor that was out of a 99 legacy, i went to carquest for a price on the oil pan gasket was 25$ i might try autozone to see if i can get one cheaper so when i replace the oil pan because mine is all dented up and i cant change my oil with a whench i have to use a sockets and oil is dripping from the plug and it is tight, will i have to jack the front of the motor to get the oil pan off ? Setright Posted January 30, 2006 Share Posted January 30, 2006 You need to loosen the two engine mounts to allow the engine to rise up. Most of the time, you also need to remove the exhaust manifolds from the engine to allow enough clearance. It's this last part that causes problems. Soak the exhaust nuts in penetrating oil overnight before trying to remove them. The "straw" that the oil pump uses to suck up oil has a circular bit on the end with a mesh filter.
