tsutomu
Hey guys i noticed something on my 84 subaru brat (supposedly GL). The bar connected to the trans wasnt connected, and after connecting it to the place where i thought it connected to, i took it for a test drive and it didnt have dual range no matter how hard i tried. After studying the tranny and where the 4wd shift lever is supposed to connect to and it felt completly different than the trans off of the subaru gl in the wrecking yard. So do u think that my trans got swapped off of a DL? (i did check the haynes manual, but i would like to ask some one with first hand knowledge) thanks for helping
GeneralDisorder
Probably the case. I had a DL with a dual range for the same reason. Trans was swapped because 3rd lost the syncro (common on the 4 spd). If your Brat has t-tops then it's a GL. GD
