TheSubaruJunkie
Cameron had a really great article on fixing the lifter tick on our EA82's with step by step instructions on rebuilding them. The page no longer exists on the server, did anyone happen to copy or backup the data anywhere? I tryed the wayback machine but the images arent cached there, so there is only text. -Brian
idosubaru
i looked for the link as i used to have it, but erased it once i found this: http://www.mizpahprecision.com/pricing.htm they charge 4 bucks to clean and 5 bucks without any cores or something like that. super cheap. taking them apart is time consuming. Tycho
You know, that crimp on top cap part does not need to go back on the lifters once you've cleaned them. Leaving that part off makes the lifter cleaning procedure pretty fast.
Syonyk
Have you tried half a can of seafoam in the oil & some 5000+ RPM love? That's cheap & easy. -=Russ=-
jeffast
i just put in a quart of marvel mystery oil in and it went away after a week of normal driving ofcourse with me that means 5000 rpm all the time

That's cheap & easy. -=Russ=- Thats what i'd usually do, but im putting my EA82T back together and the lifters have been sitting out for weeks with no oil. I dont want to just put them back in. I was thinking of soaking them in a tub of MMO for a few days before putting them in the engine. -Brian
Hondasucks
Submerge them in a coffee can with enough oil in there (MMO works, or mix MMO with motor oil) and submerge each one under the oil, and pump the lifter (if it won't pump, that's fine, means there is oil in it) That's what I did when I redid the heads on the turbowagon before WCSS6, no tick...
