GLCraig
About a year I replaced the clutch in my 84 GL 4wd, the parts came from a dealer and included the disk, plate, pilot bearing, release bearing and release bearing holder. When everything went back together, I ran out of adjustment with the clutch cable before the proper adjustment could be obtained. Well I drove it like that for a few weeks then I ended up buying my legacy and ended up not driving my GL very often. Well this weekend, in peroration for the rally cross. I went and replaced the clutch cable. But now my new cable has the same problem. Too much slack and not enough adjustment left. And yes I do have the cable routed correctly. The only things I can think of are that I got either the wrong release bearing or the wrong release bearing holder.

baccaruda
did you make sure the throwout/release bearing had the two wire clips installed? did you make sure the side of the clutch with the springs sticking out further was facing away from the engine? also make sure the hill holder is adjusted properly? good luck
