dentedfender
I have an 84 gl and was wondering what is the trick to getting the speed ometer cable back into the transmission? I have it on there now all screwed down but the speed ometer doesnt work. I remember it being very hard to take out when i did the clutch. Any help would be great thanks. [HTi]Johnson
What I do is make sure it is secured to the back of the speedometer and then I just pull the end out of the sleeve and stick it in the slot in the tranny and then pull the sleeve over it and screw it on. Always worked for me. Might wanna put some oil or lube in it since you have it out. How's that for run on sentences? Justin

soobscript
Yeah, pull the actual cable out from the end to put the tab in the tranny slot. Then slide the threaded part down and screw it in. Don't ruin the plastic threads either. Depending on how old the cable is, it would be a good idea to grease the whole thing. Unhook the end from the gauge, remove from vehicle, pull the entire cable out from the sleeve, clean, grease, replace.
