I)arkZrobe
I love my wagon but I have had a few problems with it... One the rear windshield wiper fluid motor sucks anyway to fix that or but somesort of newer motor in it??? Second I seem to be leaking oil but I dont know were. First off there is a new 86 engine in it (So I was told by the mechanice who fixed it (Even though they jipped me)) It takes 2 Liters of oil for it to say full on the dip stick instead of 4 which the old engine took. Second I seem to need to add about two more liters every 3 weeks because it gets low. My car only drips maybe one drop a night and the exhaust isnt smokey so Is there someplace else that the oil could be going??? Last right under the spare tire above the engine by the exhaust there seems to be a smoke that comes from it that smells like rubber. I know my exhaust has holes in it but I dont think it is the exhaust. any recomondations? If you can answer any of these are know of another thread that has my answers please either respond to this or email me at chris_brosz@yahoo.com Thanks! mikeshoup
You sure the smell of 'rubber' isn't the smell of burnt oil? The two are fairly similar. You could be dripping oil onto your exhaust manifold, which is like uber hot, and burning the oil up before it touches the ground. That could be where your oil is going? Might be worthwhile to check it out.
torxxx
I'll almost bet its the o-ring between the cam case and the head. My 86 leaks there. it drips right down onto the exhaust and the axle and gets flung around all over the place. Another thing, look at the tranny dipstick. If you have too much oil in there, the oil will seep up the dipstick tube, then run down the side of the case and drip onto the exhaust. I had to deal with one of those at work today
gemery10
my 86 leaked out cam cover gasket on both sides and had a stuck pcv valve. It seemed to use oil about the same but when I fixed those I don't use any
