Front calipers banging around

Recommended Posts

Hey Fellas:

I can't figure out why the two front calipers keep bouncing around causing grinding and loud thunk sound on my 86 GL wagon. As I speed up the sound disappears. The driver front is new rebuilt from parts store. The other side did not seem to have a sticky piston. The mounting pins seem to be ok (lubricated them with the correct greese) The only possibilites that I have though of thus far are:

1:) I did not set the pistons correctly

2:)Did not set emergency brake correctly

3:) To much torque on main axel nut (it seem to not do it as much when the axle nut dose not have much torque)

4:) The uncarriage has to much rust and its loosing its geometry.

5:) Motor mounts bad throwing axle out of alignment

Do I need my soob die before I do?

check to see if the metal clips on each end of the front pads are on right.I've never had a problem with torquing the hell out of the axle nut except for when I have to change a shaft out on the trail.

They have a loud thunking sound...with no clip could this make this loud thunking sound? THE CLIPS ARE ON CORRECTLY It appears to drag as well.
