Geoff4130
So I wrecked my car and need a lot of front end work. I have a 99 OBW, but I don't really want the stock bumper cover. I was curious if the cover on a GT or Brighton was any shorter and if it would fit. I want this for 3 reasons. First I would think the smaller bumper would give me a better approach angle for off-roading. Second I don't have the oem driving lights and don't want to pay to have them replaced when I can get some after market ones instead. And last I think it may save me some cash with a non-Outback cover. I have a $500 deductible and figure after the estimate I'll tell the repair shop not to put in new driving lights because I've heard they are $100 each and the other cover. So that is why I was wondering if all the bumper covers on all the Legacys of that design are interchangeable. Here are some pics of my car Oh yeah, the story. It snowed, as you can see, and the road was slick and I ran into a telephone pole dead center. Thankfully my airbags did not deploy and my radiator is not broken. I was doing snowdrifts all morning and no problems, I drive like I am supposed to and hit a pole, oh well.
Andyjo
build yourself a steel bumper, show those phone poles who's boss... idunno if it'll fit, but i think you could make it fit pretty easy, they all have the same basic plastic tappy things on top. Geoff4130
I thought about a metal bumper and skidplate thingy, that would rock! Also I've heard if I were to put Forester springs on my car it would lift it some. Is that true?
chipper
Get ahold of the folks at Scorpion offroad in Oz, (Australia) http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~colfam/index.htm and see if they will sell you one of these; http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~colfam/photos/Subytrio.jpg http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~colfam/photos/bullbar2.jpg If so, i'll buy one too, and I'll bet others would step up as well. These look for all the world like a TJM bullbar. Looks like they have a sump guard as well. I had a brief email exchange with them over a year ago, and could never get them to contact me again. These folks http://www.ozified.com/index.htm Claim to be related to the byb from Oz, and the byb homepage; http://www.ausubaru.com/ also shows what look for all the world to be TJM aluminum bullbars (roo bars) for the OBW/Forester. I would dearly love to get one. If you have any luck, lemme know.
