jssubie
OK, I had a brief overheating issue because some idiot topped off the coolant level with H2O after fixing a radiator leak last summer, and when we got some real cold weather it froze up. It seems like right after that, I started noticing increased oil leakage, but I am not sure where it is coming from. All I know for sure is that it ends up on hot exhaust pipes, because I can smell it when stopped. Any ideas what to look for? Thanks. Phizinza
Head and rocker cover gaskets... if it over heated it might of changed the shape of the alloy for a moment and allowed the gasket to break or push out a bit. Degrease your engine and the look for 'new' oil leaking out.
85Sub4WD
by the sound of it, you could easily have a cracked head/block - while aluminum does allow a lot of expansion/contraction, it does have limits, and freezing it will break stuff do what Phizinza said, and degrease, look for new, and that should give you a good idea as to where it is comming from - at best it will be a gasket (could even be valve cover gaskets, which are prone to leaking) - at worst, something will be cracked good luck!!
