joebark
My wifes' car recently has a mind of it's own. It runs fine on easy acceleration, but 1 time out of 5 on heavy acceleration the engine bogs down and dies. after pulling over the car starts back up and runs seeminglly fine, until it dies again on increased throttle. Recently new ngk plugs, wires, and filters. AutoZone read the check engine code and they said misfire between cylinders 1, 2, and 3. Also on heavy acceleration a/t oil temp. lights up on dash. Level is good and car shifts fine. We are afraid to take the car on highway. Thanks in advance, Joe
simbey1982
if it started happening after you got the plugs and wires you may want to double check those...who put them in?? had a friend with a ford focus and the mechanic tourqued the spark plugs too hard and put hairline fractures in most of them......seems to me that would be your problem

tunered
this really sounds like a almost plugged fuel filter, you mentioned filters, was fuel one of them?
camosuba
this really sounds like a almost plugged fuel filter, you mentioned filters, was fuel one of them? this sounds like a faulty fuel pressure regulator or a blocked filter to meregards camo
joebark
this really sounds like a almost plugged fuel filter, you mentioned filters, was fuel one of them? Yes, the fuel filter is new. The car restarts even while coasting and can be driven to higher speeds unless you have to go heavy on the pedal. Thanks for your reply. I'll also look at the fuel pressure reg today
