Push Button vs D/R 5 SPD Tranny Q

Recommended Posts

When I do get around to swapping the sucky 3AT to a 5 spd, should I go with a D/R or a push button single speed? There was a PB 5 spd in a turbo coupe at the Pick-A-Part yesterday. Just wonder what you guys think.

The dual range is superior in most people's opinion. The single range in the pushbutton is high range only, plus the added complication of wiring in the 4WD pushbutton solenoid.....

not to mention of the vacuum lines you have to run to make it work, plus, if something happens to one of the lines, you wn't have the 4wd when you need it most. I would go with a NA 3.90 d/r 5-speed and a 3.90 rear diff.
