DasWaff
I have been following serveral threads and readiing some older ones which involve oil coolers. Does anyone have a specific oil cooler to reccomend that is EA82 compatable, obtainable, and a relatively easy install?? An advanced search of the forums yielded less than ideal results... This seems to me to be a sane and wise modification, are there any draw backs that I'm missing?? Thanks in advance for your help. DasWaff
JWX
just do a search for WJM, that will turn up all kinda of info. oh and btw, I did a search for "oil coolers" and found TWO threads in which WJM gave the info on where to get them.

carfreak85
The downside to an oil cooler is that in colder climates you have the potential to over cool the oil. Just something to keep in mind. That being said, I have a larger one ready to replace the factory cooler on my wagon.
lastchance
ShawnW had 3 nice oil coolers, I snatched one for my turbo wagon for like 15 bucks shipped or something. You may want to get a hold of him for one.
idosubaru
i don't know that the EA82 can see any benefits from an oil cooler. i think i asked in one of the threads awhile ago and was told it is essentially pointless to put it on the non turbo EA82. the EA82T heats the oil up substantially more due to the turbo and in that case it could be very beneficial. TomRhere
I bought one of those adapters thru WJM. It has a thermostat in it, and regulates when/if oil goes thru cooler or to engine. So, it shouldn't over-cool the oil. And Turbo or not, using an oil cooler is good for the oil.
DasWaff
I found a Flex a Lite kit with the sandwich, cooler, and all the rest of the hardware for $110 new. If I ever get this engine actually in I think I'm going to invest in it. Its also temperature controlled, I called Flex a Lite and asked. This is the third engine for this GL-10, and for some reason it has been cursed with every tiny problem... Onward to successful internal combustion I hope.
