donald893
Did subaru make a EA81 4wd d/r 2dr coupe? if they did how rare are they? if they did make it i want to find one someday.
Turbone
No, they didnt. The only Coupe that was 4wd was the 83/84 Turbo Coupe, and it was a 3AT with single range 4wd. It would be quite simple to take a 5spd 2wd Coupe and convert it to 4wd D/R. A little bit harder if its a AT tho. They did have a 4wd Sedan, not sure what year, or if it had a S/R or D/R. Johnnyboy
YES, they did make them ;-) I have a 1983 EA81 twin carb 4WD D/R 4 speed 2 door Coupe, all factory.
Turbone
Most of the people that post on this Board are form the States. I think he was asking if they imported one here. Both OZ and NZ got different imports than we did.
Johnnyboy
yea, i'm aware of that.. but they still made them aye, thats what he asked;) Don't feel like i shut you down or anything, just saying my bit, about what i know.

Turbone
Well, we certaintly have the stuff here to make one just like yours. We can get the dual intakes and we have lots of EA81 Coupes available. Is your a 4spd? And dont worry, I'll admit when I'm wrong. This was a generalized question, so it can apply to the whole planet I guess.
Johnnyboy
not the "most" common car on the road around here  But there are a few around town still... I'm after a hatch now.. they just never seemed to make it to NZ.. I've only ever seen ONE in person in my entire life! But oh yes.. it will be mine... Turbone
Dont feel bad, theres only 2 Hatches in all of OZ.
Johnnyboy
Yes, standard D/R 4 speed, just like in the brumby's (brats) Yea, you could certainly make one out of parts ... I've got a Supercharged EA81 ( MR2 supercharger ) which I'm thinking of placing in it... but it's kinda nice to leave it old skool original with the twin carbs. It's got a hot cam, so it revs like mad and has such a wicked "twin carb" sound.
Johnnyboy
Only 2 in Oz... jeepers.. i don't have a hope then! Perhaps i should look at importing from the states? well, i'd have to be super keen to do that i guess due to the cost involved.
Turbone
Well, its sure got me thinking again:banghead: Coupe with 3in lift and EJ22 conversion. Who wants to buy my Hatch for $1500?
donald893
ok thanks i guess i'll just look for a fwd one
Johnnyboy
On the subject of lifts.. i've been wondering about putting a 6 inch lift in the coupe, i enjoy the offroad more than onroad, hence the lift and mods to the brumby.. but i just figured a hatch would just be a better option than the coupe. I guess that comes down to personal preference. The hatchs have a shorter arse than any other model don't they?
Johnnyboy
Sorry Donald.. i think i hijacked your thread. Hard to NOT talk about these coupes:headbang:
Turbone
True, the Hatch does have a shorter departure angle. But the Coupe lifted would have a better coolness factor. I've been wanting to do it for years now.
