Subarian
OK, so I know it's not a big issue, but... Since I got my Legacy (originally intended to be an engine donor, but too nice to part out) and began driving it, I notice it's a lot quieter on the road. It seems like the GLs are especially noisier in transmitting road noise from the rear wheels. Has anyone used any kind of sound deadening material, and with what kind of success? Thanks. Holmes
I did notice that the carpet in the bag of the Legacy I was checking out at the JY was thicker than in my GL. I used a bunch of soft foam bricks I scored at my work and stuffed all the holes in the back. Like where the jack goes and the little hatch under the carpet and wherever else I could stuff it. It helped, but I'm still thinking about putting something under the carpet. This stuff would be great, but it's not cheap. http://www.dynamat.com/products_automotive_dynaliner.html Or this http://www.b-quiet.com/vcomp.html Or a cheaper version http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=sr_nr_i_0/002-1297636-0200048?%5Fencoding=UTF8&keywords=sound%20deadening&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Asound%20deadening%2Ci%3Aelectronics-aps&page=1 And then there's the old stand by carpet padding http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ItemBrowse/c-10101/s-10101/p-100000290826/mediaCode-ZX/appId-100000290826/Pr-p_CATENTRY_ID:100000290826 http://www.wesellupholsterysupplies.com/store/shopdisplayproducts.asp?search=yes

mbrickell
I had a VW Fox, filled a bunch of cavities with the expandable foam, and it helped considerably.

Mykeys Toy
You get what you pay for with sound deadening. On the other hand when you go to apply it most caraudio guy will use at least two layers. That will cost you at least $200 with Dynamat. This is what I use http://www.fatmat.com/fatmat/bulk/100ft.htm It comes out to like 125 shipped. bgd73
Hey, I thought it was just me and my old soob with the noise. Thought I had an error and repacked rear berrings with hight temp synthetic (I mean REALLY packed it). Now I've got a poor man's cadillac
