subaruman5
Location: Alki Beach 3130 Harbor Ave. SW Seattle, Wa. Time: July 9, 2006 (Sunday) Alki Beach Seattle, WA Meet: 11am-1pm Drive: Leave at 1pm from Alki Beach to Chinook Pass Well to everyone that showed up to last years Alki Beach Meet 2005, thank you for making it a great turnout. This year we will be meeting up at the slant where we parked all 2.5RSs for the photoshoot instead of the upper parking lot. We will not be able to use the upper parking lot since I found out its commercial and they would require a $1000.00 fee for one day plus insurance. The slant area is all public with restrooms at the very end in a secluded area. DIRECTIONS THREAD CLICK HERE Myself and others will help park individual cars to get as many cars as possible in this secluded area without wasting space. I calculated out that we can fit around 100 Subarus if we space the cars appropriately.
subaruman5
Under Construction: In the next three weeks, I will find some time to drive from Alki Beach to Chinook Pass and scope the area out. A couple things I will need to take in consideration are: 1) A place to meet up to eat lunch after 1pm before drive to Chinook Pass 2) A restaurant to eat on the way back 3) Detailed directions Map of drive from Alki Beach to Chinook Pass A couple pictures of Chinook Pass The meet will last from 11am till 1pm. At 1pm we will leave to Chinook Pass (Mt. Rainier) for a nice Sunday drive. When time nears, I will figure out a place to stop at for lunch before the drive to Chinook Pass. I'd like to keep this drive under control without any young/old immature drivers please. Last thing I would want to see is one of us wrecking our cars and ruining the day for all of us. Just a couple rules. #1 NO excessive speeding/reckless driving #2 DON'T be an idiot. If you can follow those two rules, there shouldn't be a problem. I'm sure there will be a majority of mature drivers that will be driving carefully anyway. I will make sure to pass out photocopies of directions to get to Chinook Pass from the parking lot at Alki Beach since it will nearly be impossible to stay together. When we get on I-410, we will pull to the side of the road and get everyone back together. The drive from Alki Beach Seattle to Chinook Pass is two hours, but it might take a little longer since we will get something to eat before the drive up and also be in a group. We will then stay up there for at least 30 minutes and drive back down. On the way back to Seattle, we will stop by a restaurant, which I haven’t decided yet. As soon as I have some time to scope the drive out, I will post pictures and give a location of the restaurant with detailed pictures of what to expect on this drive. RADIOS: Everyone bring a Motorola radio if you can. Channel for all of us will be 5. Also, here are a few rules about talking on the radio. It’s very similar the way pilots and air traffic control uses. When you are using the radio, please say the following so we know who’s talking 1) Who you want to talk to 2) Who you are 3) Location 4) Intentions If you need to contact me for any matter, you can call my cell. subaruman5
List Updated on front page! 7-4-06 5 more days to go! FRS radio channel 2^5. Here is part of the “Itinerary” for the day. THE REGROUPMENT ON SHOULDER AND an 11.7 MILE DRIVE TO TOP OF CHINOOK PASS As we arrive before Crystal Mountain BLVD, we will line up on the shoulder and wait for the others. As soon as last car arrives, we will drive an 11.7 mile stretch to the top of Chinook Pass. We will have photographers in front of us positioned at different points of the 11.7 mile stretch towards the top. Please keep distances between cars as close as possible without compromising safety, so there won’t be excessive gaps. AS WE NEAR THE TOP OF CHINOOK PASS, WE WILL TURN AROUND AND HEAD DOWN TO CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN SKI AREA FOR A GROUP PHOTOSHOOT WITHIN 1 HOUR FROM WHEN WE ARRIVE AT THE TOP OF CHINOOK PASS. ATTENTION: There will not be enough parking spots at the top of Chinook Pass. In order for us to regroup for a photo shoot, we will drive back down west from where we came from and turn right onto Crystal Mountain Blvd. Continue on that road for about +-4.0 miles until you see a parking lot where we will park in an orderly fashion and take a group photograph. Make sure to head straight towards Crystal Mountain Blvd. after you reached the top of Chinook Pass within 1 hour. This way we don’t have to extensively wait for anyone. DRIVE FROM CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN SKI AREA TO MAZATLAN MEXICAN RESTAURANT. (33 MILES FROM CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN SKI AREA TO ENUMCLAW) From the ski resort, we will drive directly to Mazatlan Restaurant at 951 Roosevelt Ave. S.E. Enumclaw, WA 98022. The drive from Crystal Mountain Ski Resort to Mazatlan Restaurant is 33.0 miles and the Restaurant will be on your right hand side when you enter Enumclaw. Mazatlan Restaurant Number: (360) 825-3544 if needed. I made sure to call the restaurant in advance for them to expect a larger than normal crowd. Don’t be surprised that the restaurant will be full already. WARNING! There will be no excuse for any reckless driving, passing on blind corners/solid lines, speeding, or anything of that nature. You will not be invited to any future meets if driving behavior like this exists. I'd like to keep this drive under control without any young/old immature drivers please. Last thing I would want to see is one of us wrecking our cars and ruining the day for all of us. Just a couple rules: #1 NO excessive speeding/reckless driving/passing on solid lines #2 DON'T be an idiot. If you can follow those two rules, there shouldn't be a problem. THERE WILL BE PLENTY OF POLICE OFFICERS AROUND AND THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO SHOW OFF!
