subyfreak
I am looking for info on a auto to 5sp legacy conversion. I currently have a 90 Legacy with awd and a auto trans (bad head gasket) and a 92 Legacy with awd and a 5sp parts car (bad rear rust damage). I saw the 92 for sale and the price was right ($150.00) lower miles, runs great and good drive train. So I figured it would be quicker and cheaper to do a engine swap than to do the head gaskets on my 90 at 200,000+ miles and possibly find more problems. I would like to replace the auto with the 5sp while the engine is out. Some of the things I am wondering are what will I need off the parts car besides the trans, pedals, clutch master cyl. and shifter? Also did any thing change between 90-92 2.2L engines that would prevent me from using my current ecm? Thank your help.
lmdew
Do a search for this and you'll get lots of info. You ECU should be OK. The parts you have listed are what you'll need. Legacy77 has a good site on the swap.

Legacy777
Yeah, My swap is pretty detailed. It has some additional info since I converted to AWD, but the electrical stuff is pretty for the AT to MT swap.
