I sent it in to the local high school shop for trans service (filter and fluid) but when it was finished it now has a noise coming form the trans that sort of buzzes or ticks. this noise varies a little in character with engine rpm... supecting an air leak in the pick-up tube we took the pan back down and installed a new o ring on the filter or fluid pickup tube but that didn't fix the noise?? any body got any ideas. this loyal only has 77,000 on it and was running pretty well before the service Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Happens sometimes when doing fluid changes. The TC loses some fluid, and doesn't re-fill completly, leaving a small air pocket in there. The vanes inside of the TC are spinning thru this air pocket, hence the buzzing. It should go away on it's own, may take some time to do so though. Can't say how long as it is up to the tranny itself. I've had it clear up in a day, and other times it takes like a week or so. Not a whole lot you can do, other than drive it. Tom thanks for the info the noise does resonate through the whole trans could be originating in the converter when draining the fluid for the second time we noticed that it was a little bubbly. I will try the drive it method and see if that noise goes away is there any danger to running the trans with the cavitation? won't eat up the converter will it? TomRhere Posted March 14, 2006 Share Posted March 14, 2006 In theory, cavitation isn't good... I haven't had any tranny problems related to it, and I've owned many auto trans over the years. Might give a call to a local tranny shop, see what they say about it. Maybe they can tell you a way of getting the air out. I don't know of one myself, other than driving the vehicle.
