Sube convertable?

Recommended Posts

I saw an ad in the C-Bus paper over the weekend for an "83 2dr convertable". 67k GC $850.

I havn't called yet, and probably shouldn't since I've got my hands full as it is. Still, if this thing is for real....

Do any of you guys know anything about these? Is this a true factory car? Is this worth going after?

thanks, John

John, K-O Jeep-Subaru in Akron, Ohio was involved in this. A few dealers had about 50 of these made here in the states. Most were done on the west coast, but a few made it to the midwest. 'The Mix'

about 10 years ago i saw a rag-top XT in a Reisterstown, MD parking lot. I was in highschool and didn't think anything of it. This was before i knew anything about cars or subarus so i never inspected it, i just assumed they "came that way". knowing what i know now i wish i would have inspected it, leaves too many questions. i'll never know if it was a convertible or someone tried to make it look like one. convertible XT's have been nothing but legends and photoshop artwork.

John,

What part of town was this in? I saw a black one of these, that most likely is the same one in this ad, in Grove City a couple years ago. I left a card on it with my email address and the old messageboard URL, but never heard from them. Sadly, I have neither the money nor the space to get this car. (and convertibles in Ohio don't seem too practical).

Hey Noah:

This is actually an old post that was revived recently. I never got a chance to see it in person. I had only one conversation with the owner, and he did not return my calls after that. I'm assuming it sold quickly.

It probably was the same one you saw. If I recall, it was located on the NE side somewhere - possibly Gahanna. Damn, I wish I had another shot at it...

BTW, the GL-10 turbo touring wagon is at my house now, and I want to start on xt6 during the winter. Email me when you get a chance.
