Jack in Norfolk
I assume you have to take the seats out. I am 6'3" and I slept many times comfortably in my 86 gl wagon in the back with the seats down. I just had to lay at an angle.
calebz
Cargo space in the wagon, with the seats folded down, is overall bigger than the brat.. I have slept in my wagon once or twice. 4 foot bed in the brat though... hmm.. not feelin it.
Flowmastered87GL
Edrach had slept in the back of his brat with a canopy I know... but I kinda woke him up once
Gnuman
Edrach had slept in the back of his brat with a canopy I know... but I kinda woke him up once I think the wagons are a much better choice if you are expecting to have to sleep in it. I know my car is New-Gen but if you look inside the back window, you will see the pile of curtains I have made for my wagon. See, I actually live in my Subaru. A 4ft bed would be way too short to be comfortable, even for 5'7" ole me. . .
GeneralDisorder
The bed of a Brat is quite a bit longer than 4' my new gen friend. A Baja it is NOT. It's well over 5 feet as I recall, and definately over 6 with the tailgate. With the tailgate down, you could sleep in it - if your goal is to be off the wet ground - not going to be terribly warm, but you could string a tarp or a poncho over the bed for a rain-fly. A bit of foam on top of a carefully selected bit of plywood (both for insulation, and to cover the ridges in the bed steel) and you would be good. I'm 6'2", and I would attempt it. kingbobdole
I'm 6'4" and when I sit in the jump seats, my feet hit the tailgate... so I'd say no
waimaks
Man I love these cars. Sounds like I'd better get myself a mattress and start sleepin in er before I get much taller. I'm sure you could manage it if you were cold and tired.
baccaruda
my brat has the seats, and i don't consider it a sleepable vehicle. my wagon has 5'4" of room between the rear gate and the edge of the seats when flat, and I'm 5'5".. close enough for me! Twowagons
Just measured my Gen 1 Brat, bed length 5 ft. 2 inch with tailgate up, with tailgate down it is 6 ft 9 inches.
GeneralDisorder
Just measured my Gen 1 Brat, bed length 5 ft. 2 inch with tailgate up, with tailgate down it is 6 ft 9 inches. I would have to measure, but I think the Gen 2 is a tiny bit longer too. Wider for sure - not as if that matters. Definately sleepable with the seats out. Thanks for the measure. Jack in Norfolk
Can a 6'3" person sit in the seats with a topper on?
Jibs
I slept in the back of the brat at wcss7. At an angle without the seats of course. I'm 5-6" and I fit fine without the tailgate being there.
WagonsOnly
My dad slept in the front pass seat of a '78 Brat for over 300 miles out of a 500 mile trip (Albany, NY to Latrobe, PA). So much for helping with the driving.
BobBrumby
...Wider for sure - not as if that matters. GD Sure it does if you lie on a angle in the tray its the hypotenuse of the triangle, so it longer, than the length or width.
