Rodney7286
okay, i've searched...and i'm still not clear and the FSM is misleading. 99 OBW Limited, i need to get the door panel off to troubleshoot my power mirror - makes noise - doesn't move. 1.every thing says 3 screws, i can only find 2 - one inside the door handle and one in the armrest. 2.the window switches, are they supposed to pop off or will they come off with the panel - everything seems really tight and i don't want to bust anything 3.anybody ever been inside a pwr/heated mirror - is it possibly fixable or should i just buy a new one and have it painted. thanx in advance for any insight and advice. EDIT***WELL*** GOOD NEWS...BAD NEWS... the panel came off without a hitch....thanx all....and...the mirror can be taken apart....someone already has and glued it in place, so....just put it back together and stick my chin to my chest to look out of it.....at least now i can buy one..or find one and just replace the guts to save having it painted EDIT PS*** kewl...upon reassembly...played a hunch...shimmed the motor assy. a bit....ta da i can see

My wife has busted the one on the right side 3 times already on mail boxes. Ive bought 2 already, and changed them. The one I got now is held on with a roll of electric tape..........still works too! She delivers mail.............

seattlelegacy
I'm not familiar with the 99, but I have had the 93 off - several times. Maybe its similiar. I only had two "large screws" to remove, and then 3 smaller screws around the speaker. The rest is clips that pry off. One of the large screws is under a small little patch thats clipped on and matches the trim. Careful not to bust the trim around the inside of the door handle, it also pops off, but should be removed prior to removing the door panel. Pop off the panel along both sides and the bottom, then lift it. Don't try to pop the top of the panel off along the rubber window trim. Its a piece of cake, just take your time and don't pull anything too hard. As far as the mirror, I wouldn't bother trying to fix it. Yeah, you might be able to, but I'd just replace it with a used one. If its painted, you might run into a little more trouble, but it shouldn't be that difficult. There is a second screw in the arm rest. The window switches come off with the door panel, then you unplug them. There is pleanty of slack in the cables. The mirror you just replace, its much easier. The panel prys off starting at the bottom of the door, and using a long screwdriver. The top of the panel lifts off the door when all the panel retainers are popped off the door. nipper
