Loyale 2.7 Turbo Posted March 24, 2006 Share Posted March 24, 2006 Also Remember This, is Important: Subaru did make in the 80`s and part of the 90`s the Radio connections, using a common ground between the front and the rear speakers of the same side, but the positives are all independent. Due to the extremly delicate circuits of the newer radios, if you do not put in a new cable for the ground of the back speakers (As I Did, or for the Front ones, do what you preffer) you will damage the unit for sure. I have a wagon and it required spacing it out 1" from the dash to fit a standard DIN radio. The hatchback's, if I recall correctly, required a panel replacement. I believe I have extra parts for the fit/installation kit which I will never use. It came with all the parts needed for almost all years and multiple models of older Subarus. IM me your address and I will give you the parts and I just want you to send me the postage for USPS Priority. I fix it by doing a Wood "Adapter", it covers all the open space of the Radio Area, and it`s about 2" Thick, to give the Extra Space... It`s attached with Screws. Skip Posted March 24, 2006 Share Posted March 24, 2006 SynBlinFlu Loyale 2.7 is correct about the common wire for the front and rear speakers (it is not grounded as some will tell you) But there is a simple way to by pass this with out running new wires. I'm running into the same problem of not having enough depth to put my radio all the way back where it "should" be.I purchased my kit from the local Car Toys. I do have the Metra 99-8900 kit. I used the faceplate for my 88 Wagon. The faceplate I used is for the EA82 cars (faceplate #1). The faceplate for the EA81 is available (Faceplate #2 includes the 82-87 Brat, 81-84 DL and 81-84 GL). Finally the faceplate for the Justy is available (Faceplate #4 w/mounting brackets) The faceplate #s are found in the instruction manual: http://www.metraonline.com/downloads/pdf/TurboKits/INST99-8900.pdf Anyone want Faceplate #2 or #4? $5 for each faceplate set (money is for shipping) will get them.
