A DOG
Recently there was a suby tales contest in outside Bozeman magazine. A contest dedicated to the mighty subaru and its amazing encouters with nature, man, and mayhem. I sent in a story of why and how I made my suby a Mountain Patrol subaru. With a pic of my wagon on an island. My friend wrote a story about hunting the great snow yeti then getting stuck in the process, but they didn't put that story in there just the pic. There were some other really good subaru tales too. I can't wait to do it again next year. So heres the cover of the magazine: And heres the page with my story on it: Heres my story in case you can't read it: I love subarus. Ever since I got my first 1988 Subaru DL I was hooked. Now I own two subarus. My friends and I love going camping in the summer. But there are some camping spots that are deep within the montana woods. So in order to get to some of them you need a more offroad friendly car. So I did a few mods to my 1981 Subaru GL wagon to make it a one of a kind mountain patrol Subaru. First I did a 3in lift on it from www.ozified.com, then I had my hubs redrilled to a different lug pattern so I could get bigger rims and offroad tires. I also got a custom offroad bumper so that I could protect myself and my suby from trees and most of all deer. I had to add a CB radio so if I got stranded I would have some way of getting help. So this isn’t a suby tale its more of a story about one Subaru and its owners quest for greatness. May the stars be with you.

A DOG
Thanks! It was a contest so I won something but I don't know what yet. They said it could be mountain biking gear, kayaking gear, skiiing gear, and my suby mechanic even has free oil changes for a year as a prize too. I can't wait till summer camping season. A DOG
So we had the awards ceremony last night at outside bozeman headquarters. I won $150 bucks worth of labor at my suby mechanics. So theres my weber install. I also got a bunch of cool schwag. Like a coffee mug, stickers, fly fishing flies, and an outside bozeman t shirt. it was a good time had by all. They said that they might put a page on outsidebozeman.com that is dedicated to subarus. You know I'll have some pics and even video on their site soon. Im sure I'll have a suby tale for next year too. BTW- I talked to one of the head guys at outside bozeman and hes got a solid front axle yota with 31in tires and a 2in lift. So I'm sure I can convince him to go on an offroad adventure and get it covered in the magazine.

A DOG
Of course the more the merrier. Since my friend wade got a fatty truck this summer we are probably gonna have a few different offroad trips. One to raidersburg for sure to do some sand dune brawling. Then there always the weekend camping and bralwing sessions. So is the turbo super suby running good? Good enough to go flog some mud, since its been raining here non stop? O wait you have all terrains scratch the mud idea. Maybe you could get some swampers for those 14in steels. Good job Andrew! Can I come 'roadin' with you two? Yeah, the wagon is BACK! And yeah, AT's are a pain, but I'll still try it as long as i have a way to pull the rig out. I've been pondering some super swampers and I might do it this summer if I can get some other 14's for them. P.S. I'm currently planning on spending the summer in Missoula, so I won't be around too much after a while.
