WoodsWagon
What's the best clutch disk that is realatively cheap for an EJ motor? I need one that can put up with a fair bit of slipping without glazing, if that is possible.
Subie Gal
cheap and super hefty clutch disks do not typically go hand in hand. the beefier the disk, the beefier the pressure plate you will need the beefier the clutch kit the more pressure on your flywheel. that being said... something wrong with the OEM disk? if OE wont work for you try www.clutchmasters.com talk about hefty. they have a selection to choose from Jamie
WoodsWagon
I'm using the clutch for a EJ22 to EA82 tranny combo. The flywheel and pressure plate are EA, but the power will be EJ+ a supercharger. The car will be (and has been) offroaded hard. You see where the problem is. EJ clutch disks fit in the EA flywheels. The only weak point is the pressure plate if I find a good disk. I haven't heard of aftermarket PP's. I was wondering if a clutch shop could swap on a stronger bellevile spring plate? It seemed unlikely, so the next best is a clutch disk that will put up with slip.
WoodsWagon
Anyone know if a speed shop could find a higher pressure belleville spring to fit on an EA pressure plate? It seems doable.
reddevil
$99 gets you a Kennedy 6 puck unsprung disk. The one I have is currently holding 175 torque, 155hp, and I drag race it, and I also rallycross it. Never slipped once, nor smelled it either. Call Discount Import Parts at 1-877-659-7444. NoahDL88
If you're worried about slipping, be sure to use the XT-6 pressure plate, it clamps down about 50% more than the normal EA-82 plate, i don't have a supercharger, but i've been running an EJ swap with swampers for about 7000 miles now, and i've never had any slip issues, ever. reddevil
If that pressure plate clamps 50% more, then combine that with the Kennedy six puck, and I think you will be pretty damn happy. Not so sure about daily driving, but pretty damn happy. As far as daily driving goes, my wife drives mine and never complains. I have the six puck, a HEAVY forester flywheel and an RS pressure plate.
