discovered during tire switch, no symptoms prior.

Repair for $300 (all other shops were higher, by a lot:-\ )...

can this be done in a garage with no special tools (other than socket set, wrenches, etc)????

Later,

Peter:cool:

um... no. and no.

this is not a DIY for 99.9999% of the folks out there.

I just did mine last night, with the help of a Subaru Technician

only one side... and things did not go as planned

took us 1.5 hours with the special tools needed to do the job.

defo not something i recommend trying unless you know what you're doing

and have the needed tools

it's funny, you don't know you need wheel bearings until you go for an alignment. no noise, no problems. pull the hub assy's and deliver them to a shop with a press. someone will give you torque specs for re-assy. depending on miles you're probably due for shocks, ball joints and outer tie-rod ends. my estimate: 50 each for bearings, 50 total to install, 75 each for shocks, 50 each for ball joints, 50 each for tie ends, plus 75 for an alignment. your bill: ouch.:banghead:
