My air conditioning stoped working and with 225000 miles and living in alaska I see no reason to fix it. I was curious if I could remove what ever is needed in order to save weight or something. Is it even worth looking into? What would it take? Thanks in advance

PS it's a 92 legacy wagon

You could remove it, but you wouldn't save that much weight, and you'd need to come up with a different serpentine belt. The compressor is the heaviest part of the system. You might save a few pounds by removing the compressor and the condensor; I wouldn't bother with the evaporator.

thanks for the reply, I'll look into it, the main reason I want to take it out is because one of the bearings is shot and it mkakes a disgusting squeling noise that has got to go.
