ACE Posted March 25, 2006 Share Posted March 25, 2006 My air conditioning stoped working and with 225000 miles and living in alaska I see no reason to fix it. I was curious if I could remove what ever is needed in order to save weight or something. Is it even worth looking into? What would it take? Subarian Posted March 25, 2006 Share Posted March 25, 2006 You could remove it, but you wouldn't save that much weight, and you'd need to come up with a different serpentine belt. The compressor is the heaviest part of the system. You might save a few pounds by removing the compressor and the condensor; I wouldn't bother with the evaporator. ACE Posted March 25, 2006 Author Share Posted March 25, 2006 thanks for the reply, I'll look into it, the main reason I want to take it out is because one of the bearings is shot and it mkakes a disgusting squeling noise that has got to go.
