monstaru
get a gas can, fill it up and run it till it stops running.i'm sorry, but that is the only way you will truly tell.it is not advised to do this, but every vehicle is different in this sense.for instance, penelope,my old wagon, had about 20 miles after the light was on.my four runner has about 40 , my volvo had about 60.my brat has about 30.all of these vehicles pushed to the absolute limitand some of them dying in the middle of the freeway. but now i know. Tom63050
Well thats what I want to know, when the light comes on how much is left. I have run past the red on my digital dash gas gauge light. My '91 Loyale's low-gas warning light comes on at 12 gallons, on a 15.9 gallon tank. The other way to know how much fuel you have left: find out how much gas your tank holds. As soon as the light comes on, pull in to a gas station, fill it up, and check how much gas it took. The difference between max capacity and how much you put in tells you how much gas you had left. Hey, My '87 carbed GL 5 speed, hi low range, wagon will go about 80 miles after the low fuel light comes on. I've run it empty twice with me having a fuel can on board to check it. No issues with the pump while doing this and the motor shuts off like a switch is turned off. It also fires right back up without a hitch. YMMV

Mantonite
Bring a fuel filter with you too... you can suck up all the sediment in the bottom of the tank when you run out.
Loyale 2.7 Turbo
Bring a fuel filter with you too... you can suck up all the sediment in the bottom of the tank when you run out. ...This is True... Some Aditional Info: When my "Weberized" EA82 gets the lower end of the Red mark in the "E" of Empty, it still have about one Gallon. Enough just to Take it to the Nearest Gas Station... I know it because I always use to Drive near the Red Line... You Know...
Bill90Loyale
I've had good results with a "fifty mile rule": When light starts to glow, relax, you've got fifty miles easy. Once you do that 50 miles, start looking for a station. I've never run out of gas and now have 211K on the car.
